Tummy Tuck
Tummy Tuck, also known as Abdominoplasty is a procedure to help improve loose or sagging abdominal wall skin frequently associated with relaxation of abdominal wall muscles. This can follow multiple pregnancies, prior surgery or weight loss.
Tummy Tuck is intended to result in a smoother, flatter abdomen.
The procedure is usually performed with sedation and local anesthesia. General anesthesia is frequently not needed. An overnight stay in a recovery center is usually indicated.
Mini abdominoplasty tightens the lower abdominal wall skin only and has the shortest scar. Extended abdominoplasty tightens the abdomen and the flanks or sides and has the longest scar extending around the flanks into the lower back.
Abdominoplasty can be one of the most uncomfortable plastic surgery procedures and probably requires a more time consuming and limiting recovery. You will need help with ordinary tasks like getting out of bed, bathing and dressing for several days. You will be encouraged to be moving and walking within 1 to 2 days. Light activity is comfortable in 10 to 20 days. No aerobic activity is allowed for 4 to 6 weeks.
Additional procedures that may enhance the result are Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction and breast procedures.
