Rhode Island plastic surgeon Patrick K. Sullivan, MD, FACS recently published, as

senior author, a paper on minimally invasive brow lift surgery in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal – the official journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Providence, RI — Dr. Patrick K. Sullivan, a board certified plastic surgeon in Rhode Island, has recently been published in the December 2014 issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – the official journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). The article, which was titled, “Finesse in Forehead and Brow Rejuvenation: Modern Concepts, Including Endoscopic Methods,†focuses on a minimally invasive technique that can be used to rejuvenate the brow region with excellent results and reduced downtime.

According to Dr. Sullivan and his four co-authors (Drs. Brian C. Drolet, Benjamin Z. Phillips, Erik A. Hoy, and Johnny Chang), signs of facial aging are typically most apparent in the upper third of the face. Commonly included among these aging indications are drooping of the upper eyelid, loss of contour in the brow, volume loss in the temporal region, sagging of tissues around the eyes, and the development of forehead lines/creases. Though non-surgical modalities like BOTOX® Cosmetic and other injectables have become popular treatment options to address the above concerns, the article suggests the evolution of surgical techniques has made endoscopic brow lift surgery the best treatment option for many patients.

Backed by the results of 546 brow lift patients from Dr. Sullivanâ€s practice, the Rhode Island plastic surgeon and his co-authors found that the minimally invasive endoscopic approach not only achieved exceptional and long-lasting results for the brow and forehead, but it also helped rejuvenate the temporal and periorbital regions of the face. Furthermore, the majority of patients were able to return to work within a week of the procedure.

This article marks Dr. Sullivanâ€s second Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery publication in 2014. Earlier this year, he won the Best Cosmetic Paper award for his 2013 manuscript titled, “Extended Lower Lid Blepharoplasty for Eyelid and Midface Rejuvenation.” Highlights from this publication can be found on his blog.
