Dr. Patrick Sullivan has recently returned from the annual meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). The conference, entitled “Plastic Surgery 2009,†took place in Seattle, October 23-27, and was attended by plastic surgeons from around the world.

Dr. Sullivan was invited to present his experience, opinions and research findings at the prestigious conference and took part in a number of panel discussions, including “Post-Operative Ectropion —Management Strategies When Waiting is Not Enough,†“Browlift and Periorbital Rejuvenation: Better Ways to Rejuvenate the Forehead, Brow and Upper Orbit,†and “Off-Label Use of Injectables — Whatâ€s Safe and Effective,†where he shared his knowledge and years of experience not only with advanced surgical treatments but also about popular cosmetic treatments such as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Restylane and Juvéderm. Dr. Sullivan also presented data on the safety and efficacy of these injectables in the lip and eye areas, and on the feasibility of augmenting surgical results with injectables.

“It is an honor to be able to share our experience and research with doctors from every continent as we hope this can raise the level of plastic surgical treatments and leave more people looking naturally enhanced when they have cosmetic treatments,” says Dr. Sullivan. “Giving our patients natural artistically beautiful results and the best care they could get anywhere in the world has been my passion and lifeâ€s endeavor. Frequently now I am asked to speak about how we can accomplish this for our patients, and it is truly an honor.”

The purpose of the ASPS conference is to present plastic surgeons, residents, and other healthcare professionals with the most modern, effective, and safe techniques and procedures that will optimize results for patients. ASPS is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. Its mission is to advance quality care to plastic surgery patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice and research in plastic surgery.
