RI Montly CollageDr. Sullivanâ€s cutting edge approach to treating facial deflation through utilizing a patientâ€s own fat and associated stem cells has been gathering significant attention lately. This topic was a major focus of Dr. Sullivanâ€s recent panels at the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Meeting and was also the focus of a recent piece in Rhode Island Monthly magazine.

As stated in the recent Rhode Island Monthly article, during facial rejuvenation surgery Dr. Sullivan now offers the option of utilizing the patientâ€s fat to correct areas that have lost volume in the face. Dr. Sullivanâ€s technique, “harvests fat and associated adipose derived stem cells from one part of a patientâ€s body-usually through a tiny incision made in the belly button, hips and/or thighs—and injects them into the areas of the face where deflation, loss of volume or asymmetry has occurredâ€. This approach has been particularly beneficial to those who live active lifestyles and have lost the natural volume in their faces due to exercise. Dr. Sullivan has been using this technique for years now and has found it to lead to more natural appearing results as well as providing a longer lasting alternative to facial fillers, such as Juvederm or Volumma.
