Case-6727

Details:

Procedure:

Breast Augmentation with Silicone Implants through Underarm Incision

Procedure notes:

This 49-year-old woman was concerned about the size and shape of her breasts. She was eager to get to a “C” cup size.
We discussed the breast augmentation treatment alternatives with the patient. We chose an under-the-arm approach (transaxillary) in our effort to conceal the incisions so there were not any visible scars on her breast area or chest region.

This breast augmentation procedure was planned with intravenous sedation anesthesia, rather than general anesthesia. Intercostal nerve blocks were used to have the surgery be pain free and also to keep the patient comfortable after her breast augmentation surgery.

Breast implant sizers were used in the operating room to try to help determine the size that would meet her goals and be safe for her in the long term. The patient was augmented with 339 cc silicone gel-filled Natrelle® Style 15 implants, which were placed under the muscle (subpectoral) bilaterally.
