This past weekend Dr. Sullivan shared his cosmetic surgery expertise with international experts at the annual American Society of Plastic Surgeons Meeting held this year in Chicago, IL.  Each year the annual ASPS meeting provides an opportunity for plastic surgeons from all over the country and world to learn from experts in the field of aesthetic surgery about the latest advancements in surgical and nonsurgical techniques.

Dr. Sullivan was invited to speak this year on both his artistic and surgical findings for eyelid rejuvenation as well as the very close association this procedure has with face and neck lifting and sculpting.  He was also been invited to participate in a “point-counter-point” discussion with another surgeon.  In this discussion Dr. Sullivan demonstrated his method for supporting the eyelid region during surgery, which leads to more safe and natural result during the patient’s healing period.  Eyelid surgery is a very technically demanding procedure with each individual patient presenting a unique set of challenges that need to be accurately identified for optimal treatment.  Dr. Sullivan emphasized how surgeons can avoid common problems that are often associated with this type of procedure through correctly identifying and addressing each individual’s unique anatomy.

Dr. Sullivan also received an award for The Best Cosmetic Paper as part of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal award ceremony for manuscripts published in calendar year 2013.  In Dr. Sullivan’s award winning publication entitled, “Extended Lower Lid Blepharoplasty for Eyelid and Midface Rejuvenation” he and his co-author Brian Drolet discuss Dr. Sullivan’s unique extended blepharoplasty technique.  Dr. Sullivan has found that through use of his technique he has been able to address patient’s frequently expressed concerns over the appearance of fatigue and sadness that can often be caused by the look of their lower eyelids. In addition, Dr. Sullivan was particularly excited to share his technique for using patients own fat/stem cells to rebuild areas of deflation around the cheek and lower eyelid regions.  By using this technique, which now includes even more extensive fat/stem cell injections, Dr. Sullivan has found he can provide his patients with a natural and refreshed appearance that helps the patient avoid appearing as though they have had surgery.  The results of his technique are clearly demonstrated in patient’s before and after photos, which will be presented at the meeting in Chicago.

Dr. Sullivan is renowned for achieving beautiful, natural, enhanced appearance for his patients through his unique approach to surgical treatment.  As Dr. Sullivan has said, “We now have some very powerful treatment options available to address the complex range of changes that often take place with aging.   These treatments give surgeons the opportunity to use their artistic skill to provide patients with an optimal result.”
